Kevin Fleming - Obituary and announcements

Kevin Chisna Fleming died Aug. 19, 2017 at his home in Akron, before his 64th birthday.  Born in Paducah, KY,  Aug. 22nd, 1953, Kevin was the son of the late Chisna Fleming and Helen Davison Fleming.  Kevin retired in 2016 after 30 years at Schwebel’s Bakery, with perfect attendance for the last 16 years. Kevin loved dogs, cats and family more than anything. He spent years researching his ancestors, and often freely researched ancestors of friends.  He loved puzzles, especially Sudoku, and he had an incredible memory for friends’ birthdays, cars, presidential facts and music history.  

Kevin was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated almost 34 years of sobriety. He sponsored and encouraged many others.  He was active in N.A. and other 12 step programs. He was a member of Church of Our Saviour Episcopal Church.

Kevin was preceded by his father, Chisna “Cue” Fleming; uncle, Charis Fleming; both sets of grandparents, Henry and Marguerite Fleming of Nebraska, and Leroy and Beatrice Davison of Leavenworth, Kansas; numerous dearly loved pets; and a special friend, Kelley.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Fleming of Akron; brother, Martin and wife Monika of Tarboro, NC; sisters, Giselle Fleming of Akron, and Rachel Bean and husband Brian of Akron; uncle, Harold Davison and wife Rosemary of Raleigh, NC; first cousins, Scott (Joan) Davison, Mary Upton, Jeff (Vanessa) Davison and Mark (Lisa) Davison, all of Raleigh, NC; and hosts of second and other cousins.

Visitation will be FRI, Aug. 25 from 5 -8 p.m. at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd.  Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on SAT, Aug. 26th at Church of Our Saviour, 471 Crosby St., Akron, OH 44302, with Rev. Carol Evans officiating, followed by a private burial. Please, NO flowers. Memorials may be made to Dr. Bob’s Home at 855 Ardmore Ave., Akron, OH  44302, Church of Our Saviour or an animal rescue organization.
