Help Our Church Stay Warm This Winter and For Years to Come

Some of you may have noticed in the past few weeks that our church building, specifically the parish hall section, has been colder than normal. As a result of two aging boilers and a very damp and deep boiler room that is over 100 years old, both of our boilers are in need of immediate replacement and our boiler room is in need of repair to prolong the life of replacement boilers. In fact, only one of our boilers is able to even partially work at this time.

Although our church home provides a place for our Sunday worship and church activities, it also houses our outreach activities, including “Dinner on Us”, Muffin Mondays and the Friendly Pantry. We also provide a welcoming home for many community groups.

Without heat, our parish community and our guests cannot use our facilities. As important, in winter months without adequate heat, our pipes risk freezing and bursting which puts the structural integrity of our building at risk. Due to this emergency need, our parish’s Vestry, after obtaining competitive bids, authorized the expenditure of $33,000 to replace both boilers immediately and also authorized additional expenditures to reduce the existing dampness in the boiler room. Although we have resources on hand to make these expenditures, we need to replace these funds to ensure that our parish has sufficient resources to operate on in 2012.

To that end, we respectfully request that during this Holiday Season you consider a one-time gift towards our parish’s boiler fund to help underwrite these extraordinary costs. We would like to raise $36,000 through this special appeal - $33,000 to pay for our new boilers and repairs to the boiler room and $3,000 towards our outreach efforts that help keep our neighbors in need warm.

How To Contribute

You may make contributions to our parish’s boiler fund either by using the pew envelopes marked “boiler fund” or by sending a check to the parish (471 Crosby Street, Akron, 44302) and noting “boiler fund” in the memo line.

Thank you for your continued faithful support of our parish.
